Oval-tea?

Yesterday at our Stake Conference, the Stake President shared with us in his talk, what he had eaten for Breakfast. He said,"I sat in my kitchen and ate, a can of cherries, toast and and drank some Ovaltine." A few minutes past and Brianne whispers to me,"Mom! we are Mormons, and we are not suppose to drink tea!!" She seemed quite upset. I leaned over and whispered,"Yes, that is correct. Why are you so upset?" She then replied,"President Pack just said he drinks Oval Tea!" She had these huge eyes, mouth dropped open, a shocked look on her face. I then tried not to laugh too hard, and gently told her,"Honey, he drinks Ovaltine, not Oval-tea. It is like a chocolate milk." She said,"OOOOOH! I didn't think HE would break the word of wiTHdom!" (she has no'th fron'th tee'th)

Twins and ESP

A little game we enjoy playing with the twins is "guess what the other twin is thinking". I asked Courtney to think of any object in the house and Caitlin was going to try to guess it. Courtney said,"Okay, I got it". She whispers in my ear very softly so Caitlin couldn't hear: "My new earrings." We then said,"Okay Caitlin guess what your twin is thinking. The only clue we will give you is that it is an object in the house." Cailtin began to think really hard, she guessed,"a chair?" We said,"no". Then she began rubbing both of her ears!! She guessed again, "the TV?" By this time I began laughing. Caitlin was still rubbing both of her ear lobes. She guessed again, "the computer?" She was still rubbing her ear lobes. Courtney caught on and we laughed and laughed. We asked Caitlin, why are you rubbing your ear lobes? She said,"I don't know!" Courtney then told Caitlin what the object was she was thinking of. We all thought it was so strange. It was as if Caitlin knew Courtney was thinking earrings but just didn't know how to express it. It was such a fun game! Now we have a new road trip game! :O)

Houston hits 90* - Tiffany: "svim! svim! svim!"

Yesterday Houston hit 90*. It was warm and muggy. The twins and Bri went to a friends home to swim and Tiffany was quite jealous. So, while sissies were gone, we blew up the pool and turned on the sprinkler and had FUN! In the video she is saying "Hot Dog!" over and over. She gets that from watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They sing a song a the end of the show that says,"Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog..."

Mom's Crazy?

So, all these years and many memory lapses, I thought I was going nuts. I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten where I placed items or even where my kids were.... Read this article it proves all of us Mother's aren't nutty, we just have "Momnesia".

Last night we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Carpenter's home. Grandpa BBQ'd and boy was it good! Thanks Grandpa! We also built a fire in his fire pit. Tiffany helped Grandpa build the fire. :O)

The Garage Sale Bargain

Yesterday morning we sent Caitlin, Courtney, Brianne and Tiffany out shopping at our Subdivision's annual garage sale. We gave them $20 and a cell phone, told them to take the large red wagon and go find some bargains. They were so excited! They called us a little while later and asked if they could buy 6 large, rubber, orange cones for $5. We said, "sure". They planned to set them up in the street and have a roller derby and obsticle courses. We told them to ask the seller if they would take $3 instead of $5. They girls debated for a while and were nervous to ask. So, they hatched a plan and sent Brianne and Tiffany up to the woman and asked in her sweet little voice,"Can I buy these for $3?" The woman said, "Sure and here are 12 more mini cones for free!" So, the girls got a bunch of cones, (that were brand new) for $3! Wow! What a bargain! That is a bargain for me!

Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory

Another love of a true Texan is Blue Bell Ice Cream. While in Brenham we took sometime to stop at the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory. They have a gift shop, museum, a tour and they sell large two scoop ice cream cups for $1. It was delicious and a lot of fun!

When Ron helped all of the girls up onto the cow, we heard a loud,"OOOOH!" from the large crowd of Asian visitors at the museum. It was so funny! It was as if they had never seen 5 blonde sisters. Of course they all stared at me like I was some baby making machine!

Texas Bluebonnets

This weekend we took a drive out to Brenham, Texas. We decided it was time to "initiate" my parents and bring them into the Texan fold...to make them "true Texans". For the record, I need to state, Texans are proud of a lot of things...football, oil, the Alamo, bluebonnets and bluebell ice cream to just mention a few. Every year most true blue Texans take a "pilgrimage" out to the Hill Country to view the beautiful wild flowers. The most coveted flower to see is the Texas state flower, the Bluebonnet. Typically mixed among the Bluebonnets are a bright red Indian Paintbrush. For miles along side the highways and farm roads you can see patches and sometimes even full acres of bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush. It is amazing! Althought, this weekend was a little disappointing. The flowers were not as thick as past years. The towns folk say it was because there wasn't enough rain this year. Needless to say, it was still beautiful!

Twins Speed Stacking

Caitlin and Courtney are into a new game called speed stacking. If you go out to Google you can see kids that speed stack in a very short amount of time....like seconds. With practice, they soon hope, their hands will be a blur of cups!

Victoria brought home her art work from school today. She is such a talented gal. If I tried to draw a horse, it would look like a stick. We are so proud of her. She is really coming along!

We call this photo "Righteous Baby". Doesn't it look like she is being pulled up to Heaven? Just the way the sunshine casts a light across her face, is so odd.

Little Ronnie

Tiffany was sitting on the living room rug on Easter morning opening each of her plastic eggs and dumping out her candy. With each opening, she would say,"ooh!" She then proceeded to show all of us her "Ronnie" side. She separated each egg and candy into piles. So for all of you watching this video and you think,"So!" We just giggle at her. She sorts everything and has since she was 18 months. She will sort anything from toy cars, to marker colors, to jelly beans. Each pile has to be exact and in perfect shape and form. Can we say partially nutty?

Caitlin's Injury

Two weeks ago Caitlin was doing service for me, by taking the trash to the curb. Unfortunately, there was a large piece of glass in the garbage that she didn't know was there. The glass sliced a 1 1/2" gash on the top of her foot. 7 stitches required. Ouch!

Easter Celebration

In Texas there is an Easter tradition called a "Confetti Egg". We had never heard of these until we moved here. Confetti egg \kun-`fet-e-, `eg\ n 1: a hollow poultry shell containing confetti 2: crunched in owners hand and transferred to unsuspecting celebrants head. This year we had a little confetti egg fun. Here are a few photos, y'all can see just how crazy we Texans can be!




We also dyed eggs, made hot cross buns, had a huge ham dinner and of course the Easter Bunny visited and hid baskets for each of the girls. Such fun family traditions we enjoy.

One warm Spring day...

What a fun day we had last Saturday. It only took Ron and I weeks to decide what kind of flowers to plant in the front gardens. Finally, after much debate we chose a hot pink rose, Victoria blue Salvia, and white Dianthus (diptheria as Ron calls it). We specifically chose plants that would winter over and hardy plants we couldn't kill! If you only knew how many trees and plants we have killed in our 14 years of marriage. Luckly, we can raise children just fine...plants and trees...no.
