Victoria & Wisdom Teeth

This morning Victoria had her four Wisdom Teeth removed. She was not nervous, her older friends had told her what to expect and she remembers having her arm surgery a few years ago and so she knew the whole anesthesia routine and wasn't worried. But, before she went to have the teeth removed, she went to Seminary! She didn't want to blow her 100% attendance, she said, "I just have to go!" :) I don't blame her, I would want to go too. If you've made it this far into the school year with perfect attendance, don't miss out, right?

On the way to the appointment this morning, Victoria had her camera in hand. I said,"Um, why are you bringing your camera?" She said,"Because I want you to video me on the way home! I heard that people say some really funny stuff and act really silly after they get their wisdom teeth out." I laughed and laughed and said, "You really don't want to see that sweetie." She said, " I do! Please video me!" {.... Let's just say, I have some excellent blackmail material to show Victoria's future fiance. wink, wink.}

Her Oral Surgeon, Dr. Morse, is about the nicest person on the planet. His demeanour is so calm and soft spoken. He really sets a nice relaxing tone around his office. I knew when the doctor had put in her IV with the special relaxation and sleepy juice because his office wasn't so calm any longer...I could hear Victoria giggling all the way out in the waiting room! Then, about 10 seconds later, she was silently snoring.

She was very chatty and silly all the way home. I was laughing, and at one point I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. Not, a good thing while driving. I will not post online her ride home videos. That is just too mean, however, they were pretty funny! Once we did get home, she was very unstable getting out of the van and I was holding onto her for dear life. Not easy when she is so much taller that I am. It was like trying to lead a drugged rhino into the house and upstairs. As a matter of fact, she crawled up the stairs, no kidding.

I'm not sure why, I guess it's because Victoria is my first child, but it makes me a wee bit sad when I see her go through another momentous occasion. Last month it was Drivers Ed and getting her Driver's Permit. This month it was the Wisdom Teeth removal. I just want to stop the clock, but I can't. It seems the more I try, faster time goes. Sniff, sniff. Okay, I will get down off of my "poor mother's feeling sorry for herself" soap box.

So, it's milk shakes, smoothies, jell-o, pudding, and yogurt on the menu today and tonight for Victoria. Tomorrow we move onto cold fruit soups, cool mashed taters and eggs. Right now she is upstairs, enjoying a chocolate banana smoothie and doing her favorite past time...watching I Love Lucy! {That's my girl!}

The CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN

Last Fall our family went to a party. At the dessert table there was a chocolate fountain and of course all of the delicious fixin's to be dipped. As we were driving away from the party {we hadn't even left the parking lot}, the first words out of our daughter's mouths were,"WE REALLY WANT A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!" Gee, surprise, surprise to hear that phrase come from five girls! It didn't help that Ron and I went on a cruise this past November and there was a chocolate buffet late one evening. At the chocolate buffet there were four HUGE chocolate fountains, two white chocolate and two milk chocolate. Yum. Needless to say, secretly, Ron and I were hooked and on the hunt for a chocolate fountain.

Last week, I was looking for Valentine gifts for my girlie's. I happen to stumble upon a chocolate fountain at Bed, Bath and Beyond. {I found it in the Beyond section. heehee.} Yup, that was the gift. I knew it when I saw it. I begin thinking to myself, "Holy moly, I could use this at my girls Sweet 16 parties, baby showers, bridal showers and weddings." {gasp} Then I froze. Holy moly, I have just made my first purchase for a "wedding reception". {ACK!} I won't lie, it shook me to the core. Then, I got all excited! I recently read an article online about a family that had FIVE weddings in one year. Yes, you read that correctly, FIVE weddings. Let's just hope my girls don't pull that on me. I could see two or maybe three of them, but hopefully not five weddings in one year. I am hoping that by the time Tiffany gets married, we will have the wedding reception routine all figured out.



So, here it is...(not sure how long this little gem will last) but I present...the Chocolate Fountain. YUMM-O.

Victoria's First High School Track Meet

Victoria is throwing Shotput and Discus again this year. She is pretty good at it too!

She threw the Shot 27.11 feet and took 3rd place at this last meet. Discus she didn't place, but she did throw 69 feet which was pretty good for her. Discus is not her thing. She enjoys Shotput more, just because she is better at it. We are all like that right? We enjoy doing things we like to do.

Brianne Begins Volleyball

Another Turner girl takes the plunge into the sport of volleyball. Brianne is quite strong and I think once she gets more practice and court time, she is going to figure out how to pull back a bit on her strength. I can imagine Brianne playing volleyball, like Victoria, at high school level. She's got the ability and that deep inner {grrrr}, ready to pounce on the ball and anyone in her way.

This clip only shows two of her serves. However, this video was taken at the first game of the season, game one and she was the first server. Boy, she was a little nervous. She has never played volleyball before and she is the youngest on the team...she stood at the line and put SIX serves over in a row! Her team went on to win all three games that day.
