Oklahoma Pioneer Women Museum & Marland Oil Baron Mansion

Have you ever been driving down the freeway and you see a brown colored interstate sign that tells you of a sight of interested at the next exit? We saw a few of them and stopped. Typically we don't do that, we just roar right past. I guess because we had a little bit extra time we decided to stop.

The first place we stopped was the Oklahoma Pioneer Women Museum.
Here is a pic of the Pioneer mother and child statue. It was huge!



On the same road was the Marland Mansion. It belonged to an old oil baron. He must have made good money because this place was big. One of the rooms had a gold leaf ceiling. Spectacular! It reminded me of something one would see in Europe.

Kansas City & STEAK!

You can't visit Kansas City and not stop for a steak! Jonathan found us this steak house by word of mouth. It is called Jess & Jim's. It was delicious! http://www.jessandjims.com/

Independence, Missouri LDS Visitor Center

Our last stop on the tour was the Independence visitor center. Inside of the building were many missionaries eager to give tours! There were many displays that taught about the LDS views and the basement held displays about the Mormon Pioneers. It was lovely!

Liberty Jail - Missouri

Our third stop was Liberty Jail. The church purchased the old jail house and created a beautiful, emotionally moving, presentation of Joseph Smith and others who were held wrongly in this jail. Far West, Missouri

This was our second stop on our church historical tour. Far West was an area where the church was going to build a temple, however they were ran off by the mobs before they could build it. While being persuded by the mob some were able to lay the four cornstones for the Far West temple and dedicate the sacred ground. Adam-ondi-ahman

We decided to stop at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint Historical sites on the way home. We stopped at the four main sites. Our first stop was Adam-ondi-ahman. The valley was quiet and peaceful. Spring Hill was surrounded by cattle, a white fence and corn fields. You could see green for miles. There was a sweet peace in this area.

We continued driving down the dirt road, wait let me restate that, Tiffany our two year old drove us down the dirt road, to the next serene location where there were wildflowers in abundance. We walked down a path that overlooked a green valley. It was beautiful. I liked how I felt in this area. It was a peaceful feeling, being in the quiet of nature. The girls and hiked down the path and took lots of pics of the wildflowers and meadow.
