The Pool!

The most exciting news at the Turner household is that we built a pool. We have been discussing this pool idea for years. We finally decided to take the plunge (no pun intended) and build one. The pool is in the final phase and we still need to landscape behind the pool. We love it and are so excited to sit in the spa for the first time on New Years Eve!

Here are photos of the pool being built...start to finish!

First dig

Digging and forming the pool. Mud, mud everywhere. This entire process took about a month. The wet weather and cold temps slowed us down a little bit. I can't tell you how much mud and dust traveled into our home! It was everywhere. My favorite day was when the decking company came in and laid the new patio...bye bye mud!
The family lined up to watch the excavation. We were all mesmerized watching the crews create the pool. The kids were lucky to be home from school the day they dug. They loved watching the bobcat and the dump trucks. I think they counted over 20 loads of dirt leave our property.

Dig complete.

Rebar and plumbing.

Gunite (spray concrete)

Tile and coping.

Spraying on the interior of the pool. Wet Edge, color: Mediterranean, medium pebble. The color of pebble used was from the Costa Tropical sample. They don't usually mix different colors and pebbles...but, we knew the interior guy and he thought we would really like the color. Yes Greg, it is a "smokin" color! Thanks for all your help and advice in building this pool! You were very helpful!

Acid washing the surface. Beautiful pebbles appear.

Filling the pool!

Last few inches of the bottom of the pool dry.

Filling the pool. It took about 12 hours with three hoses. It has been quite cold here in Houston. The girls are counting down the days until it's warm enough to swim! For now, we will use the spa!

Once we get all the landscaping complete, I will post final pictures.

Holiday Celebration

Christmas Eve was enjoyed at Danielle's parents home. Good food and a gift exchange...lots of fun!

What a "University of Utah" shirt? Sinner. LOL!

Our Holiday Decor

Of course we had to have one...PINK tree for our girls!

She's Playin' Basketball!

Victoria has been playing basketball for the past month on her junior high team. She seems to enjoy it and loves to rebound! Here are a few pics.

Merry Christmas!

Now...can you guess who the "funny girl" is in our family? Study the photo below. Click to enlarge.
I did threaten to send out this photo in the Christmas cards....just to teach her a lesson. But, of course I didn't. I am too much of a softy.

Courtney & Caitlin's Christmas Orchestra Concert

Courtney & Caitlin had their second orchestra concert this week. They played three Christmas songs and they did very well indeed! Nice job ladies. You make us very proud in your diligence to practice each day. You are doing so well!

Brianne Rides with Santa!

Each year Santa rides through our subdivision on a fire truck and his helpers throw candy to all of the waving children. Brianne was lucky enough to have been invited by the Fire Chief (a man in our congregation) to ride on the truck with Santa, and help toss candy!

Brianne is in the white coat with the Santa hat on, throwing candy.
