Surgery went well

Victoria's surgery went well this morning. The doctor was able to put the bone back into place and it held without the pins. She will be in a cast for another 8 weeks. Looks like there will be no volleyball this summer.

In this xray if you look at the base of the wrist where it connects to the arm bone, you can see where the bone has shifted to the left. In the next xray you can see where it all matches up.

Tori Returns from Girls camp, Broken arm & Surgery

Do you remember the song from Sesame Street, "One of these things is not like the other" Can you tell me what is different about Tori in these two pics?

Yes, it is the broken arm and finger. As I said before in an earlier blog, she was thrown from a horse on the first day of girls camp in Colorado. The horse was spooked and took off. She pulled so hard on the reins to control the horse, she broke her ring finger. Then the horse threw off to the side. Her foot got caught and it dragged her a bit until she got her foot loose. The horse took off and she laid there in pain. Talk about a heart breaking story for a Mom to hear over the phone. (sniff. sniff.) She broke her wrist in two places and scratched up her side.

This morning I took her to the doctor and they did another xray. They found that the bone in her arm did not set properly and has been displaced. She is going in for surgery tomorrow to put the bone back into place and probably put in two pins.

We will keep you posted as to how it all goes.

By the way, she did stay all week at camp and she had a blast! :O)

Brianne at Swimming Lessons

I have been apprehensive to put Bri in swimming lessons. I wanted to make sure she was at the right age where she would not be afraid of the water. I also wanted her to be mature enough to listen to the teacher's instructions and then apply it. It has paid off! If was so exciting to see Bri just take off! It was like she was on the edge of learning how to swim for the past year. She just needed someone to teach her how to do it. I am so proud of her. She has learned such a valuable lesson in life skills.

Silly Tiffany

Gotta love a 2 year old in swim goggles!

Saguaro Cactus

I like traveling through Arizona. It is fun to see so many Saguaro Cactus growing off to the side of the highway. Saguaro National Park is one of my favorites!

Tombstone, Arizona

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

I did mention this park below in a previous entry, however I just found more pictures.

This beetle was LARGE. We just had to take a picture!

Swimming & Tori broke her arm at Camp!

So our fun filled vacation is over. What's next for us this summer? The kids will be swimming and just hanging out with their friends.

Brianne is taking swimming lessons this week and next. Victoria will be participating in volleyball camps all summer. (we hope!) I say we hope, because this week while she was at girls camp in Colorado, she was riding horses. Her horse was spooked and began to take off a bit. She fell off of the horse and scratched her side, and broke her right arm in two places and her ring finger on her left hand. I feel so bad for her. What a way to spend girls camp! She comes home late Saturday. The leaders are making her as comfortable as possible.

Texas Canyon in Arizona

On the way home we stumbled upon this rock canyon in Arizona and it was called Texas Canyon. These rock outcroppings pop up every once in while along highways. They are so strange looking but intriguing. It looks like some giant just picked up boulders and stacked them into piles and even mountains. Take a look...

Joshua Tree National Park

On the way home we took I-10. We stopped at Joshua Tree National Park. There is some LDS heritage in the park which we found interesting. For more information about this park go to this link. http://www.nps.gov/jotr/

Cali Gas Prices

We couldn't wait to get out of California and purchase gasoline in Arizona. The price dropped dramatically once over the border. It dropped even more when we came into Texas.

Disneyland Highlights

We were at Disneyland for a week. I have selected some of my favorite pics. Click on any pic to enlarge.

Fireworks. My favorite part about going to Disney.

This is my favorite ride at California Adventure. It is called California Screamin'.

While at Tower of Terror our girls made friends with one of the gals working the ride. Her name was Kristi. She was so sweet to the girls. She fast passed them through the line and made them Honorary Citizens of Disneyland.

Tiffany's favorite place to be was, Playhouse Disney. She adores Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny. This show was so much fun! I think she was in heaven!

Tiffany went on the large boat with Grandpa Carpenter.

Here is a photo of two people in costume posing with Mr and Mrs. Incredible. LOL!

The girls were asked to perform with this band. It was cute watching them.

I got SOAKED on Splash Mountain!
