To celebrate Tori's 17th birthday we decided to have a "Driveway Dance". We heard from the youth around this area, that they loved having outside dances. So, being that we live in a subdivision where all of the homes sit on acre + lots, we thought it may be alright and we wouldn't disturb too many neighbors (and horses). I did visit every neighbor around our property and asked permission to play music outside until 11pm. Everyone told us to have fun!
We had about 100 youth come to the dance. We joked that really the only reason why I went along with this dance was because I missed planning stake dances. haha! Tis true. My last calling in Stake Young Women's was so incredible and yes, I miss being with the youth.
We had otter pops, jolly ranchers and mints for the guest to snack on. I know it sounds meager, however, it is what the kids like while dancing.
The dance was going great, until the cops showed up at 10:40. Haha! They said the music was too loud and there is a city noise ordinance that no music be played after 10pm on a Saturday. They did see that Ron and I had things under control, and they said we could turn the music down and play it until 11pm, and if they had any complaints they would come back and shut us down. We knew no one would complain, because we already spoke to all of the neighbors.
At this party, Tori also told the guy who asked her to Homecoming "YES". She had yes written in lights on the fence, and she told him to look at the fence and the twins plugged it in. It was cute, and the guy liked the attention.
On most of the properties in our area, people have BIG sheds for storage. We strung LED lights from the garage to the shed. It was really neat and this photo just doesn't do it justice.

This year Tori did not want one of my huge cake creations, she opted for a TEXAS sheet cake! YUM!
