School Begins!

 

 

With mixed emotions, school began the last week in August. The girls were somewhat ready to begin this new adventure, yet were still so nervous to be starting over again.  I was just grateful that they had each other on the first day of school and I was grateful they had seminary during school to hang out with the youth they had met over the summer as we bounced around several wards and two different stakes.

 

This was Tori's "first day of being in a new high school" for the 3rd time in 3 years.  Her freshman year she began at THS, then her Sophomore year they opened the new high school TMHS, now as a junior here she is starting over again.  I felt so bad for her. Yet, I knew after a couple of days her nerves would die down and she would be in the swing of things.  It also helped immensely that she made the volleyball team at her new school.

Tiffany and her new first grade teacher.  One draw back about moving here...our kids are leaps and bounds AHEAD of the other students here.  Kindergartners in WA only went to school for a half day.  So for Tiffany to already write her name, read, know all of her numbers, letters etc, she has been quite bored at school.  Thankfully, her teacher recognized this and has given her work that is more at her level. 

 

The older girls have found that because they took high school credits while at WWJH, that rolled over here, they will be able to take college courses their senior year.  Tori as a junior, is already enrolled at Central Washington University and is getting 5 credits in Physics. These credits will transfer to BYU,  we are excited for her and this new opportunity.  The twins are bored silly in Biology class, each have 100% thanks to excellent IPC and science teachers in TISD. 

Brianne ready for the first day of school.  She was such a trooper, taking the bus the first day and shedding no tears during this huge change.  She said the first day of school, a boy walked up to her and said,"I know you!" she said,"Um, no you don't I just moved here."  He then went on to say her saw her at church.   Grateful we moved into a community with 20,000 Mormons. Love that our kids had instant friends, literally the week we moved into our home. (There is an LDS family with 6 kids across the street)  There are currently five stakes in the Tri-cities and on November 4th, they are creating a new stake in our area. We look forward to being a part of the new stake.
