The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks)

The Ballard Locks is an interesting and very education experience. As a child I enjoyed going to the locks to watch the boats, of all varying shapes and sizes come and go. It is a place to experience and watch how true Seattle-ite's live and enjoy the beauty of the Puget Sound, bays, and Lakes. One of my favorite things to do as a child, was go down to the fish ladder and watch the huge Salmon on their journey. Above is a link to the locks...it can explain exactly how the Army Corp of Engineers handles, "boat traffic" in the Seattle area.
